Frequently Asked Question

I'm getting a weird email or popup... What to do?
Last Updated 1 days ago

If you have an email address you have likely gotten an email (or a popup, or a blue screen) concerning one of the following:

"We will be closing your email account if..."
"Your IP address is being used by a scammer..."
"I need a favor... Are you on Amazon?..."
"I'm stuck in Lisbon, Portugal, and I need $3500 for a medical emergency..."
"Please purchase 25 $50 iTunes gift cards and send me the numbers right away!"
"Your computer has been hacked... Only we can help you... Dial this # Right Away!"

The important thing to remember is that no matter how alarming the email (or popup) sounds, it's likely a fake. Try thinking the following:
1. Is this for real?
2. Do I have to do it right now? Why?
3. Do I know this person? If NO, then it's likely a scam.
4. Would this do business that way?
5. Were you expecting an email from this party?

And before clicking any links Take a couple of deep breaths and count to 10. Or maybe 100.
